Two is a Pattern is available now!

If you were hoping to buy a physical copy of Two is a Pattern, the wait is over and it’s available to order on Amazon. Just a reminder that the ebook is available from the Ylva website, but I believe Two is a Pattern and Honey in the Marrow are going back into Kindle Unlimited for a few months.

This launch has been quite lovely and surprisingly less stressful than the last. Maybe because I’ve done it once before and know a little more about what to expect. Maybe because I know I’ll be fine with any kind of reaction, good or bad. It sounds counterintuitive, but Honey in the Marrow was SO well received that I know that kind of flash in the pan, captured magic, hit the ground running feeling can’t be replicated and now I’m just happy to be here at all, getting to do something I love.

Two is a Pattern is quite the different story from Honey in the Marrow. It’s a different time period, the characters are different ages, and it’s more of a suspense read than a full romance. Don’t worry, there is a romance plot of course! But it happens around the circumstances of Annie’s (the main character) life and is really an oasis for her as she navigates this situation she finds herself in.

If you like a fast-paced story with cool 90s vibes that will send you into a spiral of female rage, then boy this is it. The one for you. I hope you read and enjoy! Oh also, an ode to my beloved, Paula Abdul.

Emily, I recently discovered you, and I want you to know that you’re one of my new favorite authors! I was just a bit disappointed to see that you’ve only written two books so far 😭. I need moooore!

I absolutely loved Honey in the Marrow, and I just finished Two is a Pattern, which I devoured. I was so caught up in the story that I couldn’t put the book down. I fell in love with Helen just as I had fallen in love with Elizabeth. But honestly—spoiler alert—I finished Two is a Pattern with a bit of frustration.

I needed to read more about Helen and Annie’s reunion. I had this knot in my stomach from Annie leaving like that, and I don’t know—I wanted the part about them after Annie’s return to be longer, for them to finally be able to love each other, for Annie to maybe move back in with Helen, for them to say “I love you,” etc. It felt too short. The word “end” left me feeling like I needed more.

But thank you so much for this story and for Honey in the Marrow, which is now one of my favorite books. It’s also so refreshing to read stories with “older” characters, and I just hope you have many more stories in store for us. Please keep writing 🙏

Looking forward to reading more from you.

Thank you so much! My greatest fear is that someone will finish my book and set it down and feel nothing and never think about it again, so I will happily take frustration! Never fear, we haven’t seen the last of Helen and Annie 💜
