Rainy February

Now that Two is a Pattern has been out in the world for a little bit, I feel life starting to settle down again, which is nice. It’s bittersweet, taking this thing that has been yours for so long and sending it out into the world. I feel like the moment it publishes, it stops being solely mine. It’s not the same with fanfic, really, because you can pull it down at any time. With published books that so many different people work on and that create revenue, you have to hand over some control. You have to put it into the world and then let it go, moving on to your next project.

California has been hit with quite the storm in the last few days. It rained so hard earlier that it was raining sideways. We’ve been spared a lot of the major flooding that’s been happening in southern California so far, but it’s still wet, gray days. One night we had a wind advisory and I thought, how windy can it get really. Turns out: very.

We’ve also embarked on a bathroom remodel this week. It’s something we’ve been talking about doing since we bought the house many years ago. Deciding to actually pull the trigger is hard! You know what else is hard? Having one bathroom again. I’ve been spoiled by the luxurious two bathroom life for some time now and even though it’s only for four or five weeks, I still can’t wait until we can pee at the same time again.

In just two days, the contractor has gotten rid of the vanity and mirror and stripped the tile, which I think is pretty good. I came home to a toilet sitting in my backyard, but we can’t all be classy all of the time.

I hope the new bathroom turns out nice. We picked out some things we liked, but neither of us are interior designers so we’ll see. The house was built in the fifties and when we bought the house from an elderly gentleman, he called it recently renovated, which meant he did a lot of work on it in the 80s. A lot of questionable work, so even if it’s not fit for the pages of Architectural Digest when it’s complete, it will certainly look less DIY and will be safer, and that’s the most important thing.

So life stays busy and keeps trucking on. Work is always slammed, but I’m writing here and there. Thank you to the people who have read, purchased, reviewed, or shared about Two is a Pattern. I appreciate you more than you’ll ever know! And for those who have not yet gotten your hands on it, Two is a Pattern will be on sale on Amazon this weekend!
